A hand thrown grenade was hurled at Security officers on patrol in Somalia’s biggest market, The Bakara Market.
The incident took place in the gold and jewelry section of
the market.
Several people mostly civilians are said to have sustained
serious injuries in this broad daylight attack.
The security officers shot in the air to deter further
attacks and several arrests have already being made though it’s not yet clear
if the perpetrators were among those detained.
Security forces often come under grenade attacks in the
market by Al-Shabab operatives who manage to escape after executing such
attacks.
